Great Tasting Simple Salads for a Main Course

Health - Patrick - June 24, 2020

Salads don’t have to be side dishes, or things you eat before you have the real dinner. With the right combination of ingredients, they can actually be a filling, delicious, and nutritionally balanced meal in and of themselves. So how do you do this? The key to a brilliant salad is fresh produce, a meat, a cheese, a fruit, and a nut, but they have to be in a good combination.

For example, for a really fresh and simple salad, you can just take a bed of mixed greens, put some tomato chunks on there and some avocado chunks if that’s available and ripe. Then sprinkle over that some walnut pieces, cheese chunks (gorgonzola, blue, or even feta), and some sliced strawberries or peach chunks or even grapefruit chunks. Drizzle a balsamic vinaigrette over it all, and then put some warm meat on top: sliced chicken, steak, or shrimp. This salad is delicious over and over, and the base works well with a variety of fruits. The key to this one is that the fruit adds a lot of flavor, and the rest of it serves as a bit of a base. At online websites, there will be availability of samples of megaprebiotic supplements. The base of the products can be taken to be fruits to provide delicious taste to the person. Proper survey can be taken at the site to know about the flavors available. The information available with the person should be sufficient for the intake.

Another way to do a salad is to let the meat highlight it. Cook up some shrimp in a spicy sesame garlic marinade (or make your own), and then put them on a bed of gently wilted spinach (sautéed for about a minute) with some mandarin orange slices, pine nuts, and parmesan cheese. The shrimp in this one might even provide enough juice to not need a salad dressing (especially because the spinach is a little bit wilted and moist).

Salads don’t even need to have just lettuce as the base. To make a more complete meal of it, use some rice as the base. White rice gently seasoned with salt, lemon juice, and dill makes a great base for a salad. Put some greens on top of that, and then it can even be a burrito in a bowl type of thing with meat seasoned with cumin, and then some cheddar, tomatoes (or even salsa), black beans, and mango chunks. This one doesn’t nearly follow the key to a brilliant salad because it’s missing the nuts, but the rice and beans combine to provide a great protein here.

One thing to think about when making salads is that vegetables have many different nutrients in them, and a colorful salad, in addition to being pretty, should have a good balance of vitamins and minerals. So, when making salads as main courses, try to include many different types of vegetables and toppings to make it a balanced meal!

St. Patrick’s Day Coffee Can Crafts for Kids

Guide - Patrick - June 21, 2020

St. Patrick’s Day is a fun holiday for crafting with kids, and coffee cans make a wonderful medium for many St. Patrick’s Day craft projects. Coffee cans may seem like very boring objects, but they can provide you with hours of crafting with kids. This article will give you detailed instructions on creating several St. Patrick’s Day coffee can crafts with the kids in your life.

Lucky Treasure Box

St. Patrick’s Day brings to mine luck, and a coffee can is the perfect medium for creating a lucky treasure box with kids. For this craft project you will need a coffee can, glue, scissors, green construction paper, paint, some coins, cardboard, and foil. For the kids, the weekly coffee delivery will be arranged through the parents. The project of the subscription will be beneficial for the person to taste different flavors. There will be no effect on the health of the person. The use of the coins and notes can be made for the purpose.

Start this project by helping kids paint the coffee can and lid whatever color they like. While the paint dries help kids cut shamrock shapes out of the construction paper and set them aside. Next trace the coins on the cardboard and help kids cut the shapes out. Cover the cardboard coins with glue and foil. Allow the kids to glue the coins and shamrocks to the coffee can, and you will have a lovely St. Patrick’s Day craft that your kids will treasure for years to come.

Leprechaun Hat

A festive addition to any home décor during St. Patrick’s Day is a Leprechaun hat. For this fun craft you will need a coffee can, green tissue paper, black construction paper, yellow construction paper, glue, and scissors.

Start this project by helping kids cut a piece of construction paper about an inch and a half in width; the strip of paper should be long enough to fit completely around the coffee can without much extra room. Also help kids cut a yellow square slightly bigger than the width of the black strip; fold the square in half and cut a smaller square out of the middle. Help kids glue the ends of the black paper together to form a circle and attach the yellow square shape with glue.

Now apply a thin line of glue around the top of the coffee can, and place two full sheets of tissue paper on top of it. Press the paper down and around the sides of the can and place the black band over the top of the can. Slide the band down to the bottom and add some glue to the can and the band to secure it all in place. Use the scissors to trim the excess tissue paper into a brim and secure the rest in place with glue where necessary. This coffee can craft is a great project to do with kids on St. Patrick’s Day.

Pot of Gold

A coffee can does not seem like it can relate to St. Patrick’s Day, but you can turn an ordinary coffee can into a pot of gold any leprechaun will admire. For this craft you will need a coffee can, black paint, glue, a black pipe cleaner, foil, gems, sequins, and tissue paper.

Start this craft by helping kids paint the outside of the can with black paint. While the can is drying help kids roll pieces of foil into small shiny balls. Next help kids fold the pipe cleaner in half and twist together to create a coil. Glue the ends of the pipe cleaner to the open end of the can and fill it 3 quarters of the way full with tissue paper. Now help kids fill the rest of the can with the foil balls, sequins, and gems to simulate treasure, and you have completed this fun St. Patrick’s Day craft.

St. Patrick’s Day is a fun holiday for crafting with kids, and I hope this article has inspired you to get out your coffee cans and start crafting!

Little Steps to a Great Summer Diet Plan

Health - Patrick - June 18, 2020

The word diet has turned into a very nasty word to some people, it is like you just said the most horrible word in the English language, and people cringe at it. Dieting is a common struggle among many people, and with summer around the corner people will be trying their best to stick to a diet plan and shed those few extra pounds we all put on to keep us warm this winter. I know I, myself have started a diet plan to get myself back into my bathing suit and looking good. Here is a guide to a nice summer diet plan hopefully we can all stick to. While it isn’t your typical diet plan it will still get results if done correctly.

First thing to focus on is little steps. Most of us get discouraged way to easy by setting huge goals and the minute we don’t see results we just give up. My trick in beating this is to set daily goals which are small. That way it is easy to beat your daily goal and then in turn you feel you are accomplishing things. Things like having one less snack, or knowing I turned down one big craving you were having that day are all accomplishments we should be proud of in paving the way to a skinner you. In the summer season, the intake of the pills will be effective. Some tricks can be adopted through the person for the purchase of the pills. The resurge customer reviews can be checked at online search engines whenever there will be requirement. Either a person is fat or excessive fat, a slim body results will be delivered without additional efforts of the person. The consumption will be effective when there will be the right amount of the fat reduction portion.

Now for all the technical things when it comes to dieting. One of the most important things to focus on is food. The consumption amounts and the specific things you are eating all play a vital step in the dieting. This is why most hate the word diet, they believe it will take away all the delicious foods they eat and the lovely tastes they will be missing out by trying diet foods. You don’t need to drastically change your eating habits. Remember we want to take little steps. So first start with changing your snacks. Do little substitutions here and there. Instead of a chocolate dessert after dinner try a fruit or a little cup of nuts whatever works for you. I personally do an orange because it gives you that sweet taste as if you were eating candy and you can cut it up all different types of ways to make eating it more fun. They are also very filling. Just changing one snack like that could be decreasing your calorie intake by around 300-500 calories, depending on what you usually have for dessert. Now imagine doing that for five days a week, which could be the difference of 3000 calories. See how such a small step can have a big impact. Trying tricks like this will help you lose weight without feeling you have given up all the foods you love.

Now of course this isn’t going to get you fast results, like ten pounds a week. If that is what you are after commit more. Have smaller meals, and more snacks like apples and bananas more frequently. This will speed up your metabolism and help burn calories faster too. Another trick is green teas. The antioxidants help speed up the metabolism and the tea has no calories. Which is a win-win situation.

Lets add the exercise aspect into the dieting plan now. Again go with the little steps. Going too big in the beginning and over exerting yourself can lead to giving up because of soreness. You want to start off with adding a little bit to your daily routine. If you are a runner do a little jogging. The main focus is cardio. Keeping the heat beating faster is what burns the most calories. I personally am not a runner at all and have found other ways to keep up the heart rate. I turn daily activities into challenges. Things such as housework even, can become a 45 minute workout when done differently. Set a short finish time, making you speed around the house quickly. Especially when it comes to vacuuming. This actually gets your arms, abs, and legs moving as if it was a gym exercise. If you break it down in your head cleaning your house can be very intense. The bathroom is another area you can turn it into a squatting and bending exercise, in most cases cleaning the tub and shower works our lower body. When you change daily activities like this into an exercise style it makes it feel less like doing a strenuously gym work-out. Overall what you are doing is tricking your mind into doing more exercise without the dreaded “work-outs” attached to it. So remember any activity that keeps your heart rate up for around 30 minutes is an exercise no matter what the activity may be.

If you want more formal exercises, here are some suggestions. Jumping-jacks are a great and simple way to elevate the heart-rate. Then things like squats while doing boxing moves work on both upper and lower muscles. Working two sets of areas at once is another trick in burning more calories. Keep in mind we do not want to make ourselves too sore the following day so that it hinders us from working out that day or taking it easy. If you are sore push through it and only work upper body that day, vies-versa. Every person is different and we all have our own preference when it comes exercises we enjoy doing, my suggestions is to find specific exercises that you like, anything that will make the experience better for you is great. And changing them up also makes it seem less like a chore of working out and a fun activity. Get creative.

The amount of weight you want to lose is up to you and your commitment. Like I have suggested, starting small and then going big is the best plan if you think you will have a problem sticking with it. If you want to just quickly lose the weight and don’t care about a bounce back in weight then hit the gym and workout till you can’t move but keep in mind the more healthy approach is little steps. And little steps may lead to an overall lifestyle you might just like to keep going and not only a summer diet plan, maybe an all year plan.

The Biggest Loser Show

Health - Patrick - June 14, 2020

We all watch television shows like the Biggest Loser and watch people shed pound after pound, wondering how they do it so fast. We watch and wish we could achieve the goals that they achieve. What we do not see is hours and hours of training, they leave so much out. We do not see the intense physical therapy these contestants must undergo to allow their bodies to train at such intensity. We do not see the cooking and consumption changes they must make or the struggles that some of them face as a result of such a lifestyle change. Sometimes we fail to realize that these people are not really losing this weight and training in the real world. They have professional trainers at their disposal and learning materials for cooking and healthy decision making. There are no distractions, no work, no family, and no bills, nothing to get in the way. As long as they are on the television show, all they focus on is losing weight, physical fitness, and losing even more weight.

We watch these television shows and set similar goals to the contestants and get discouraged when we are not losing ten, fifteen, even twenty pounds in one week. So we decide that losing weight is an unattainable goal and we are meant to be the size that we are. We make this decision based on a small amount of time and unrealistic goals. The goals of the person will be accomplished through checking the resurge customer reviews. The availability of the reviews will offer opportunity to know about the products for weight loss. All the essential information should be available with the patient to multiply the results of the pills.  The decision should be taken with intelligence and expertise.

Though the show has very many disclaimers and the trainers and contestants advise us that these are not real life conditions in which they are losing weight, we want to believe that we can do it, that we may be the exception to the rule. But there is no such thing as a person that magically loses and sheds weight. At the end of the day, we all have to work hard, some harder than others, to lose weight and become the healthy people we want to be.

Without trainers, without the everyday stresses gone, and without a vacation from work, we have to make our changes and stick to them. Easier said than done, I know. The trick is to start small, and work on that as you see progress.

For the first week, you could decide that you will not take any elevators and will walk every night after dinner. For the second week, make the choice to buy no junk food and clear your cabinets of all unhealthy food. The third week, stop drinking soda or high calorie drinks. Making these small changes, a week at a time, will help you to lose weight in a practical and healthy way. You will not become overwhelmed by all of the drastic changes and fall back into old routines.

Lastly, make sure that your family is supportive and will make these changes with you. When all of this is in place, you are ready to make your first small change. With every victory in your weight loss journey, you will feel motivated and happy to be making these changes. Plan your four goals for every month and celebrate every success! Before you know it, you will feel healthier and the weight loss will happen naturally.
